This is a specialist publication, not a model kit. The book from the Polish publisher Kagero, in the Air Battles series, charts the combat use of the American North American P-51D and P-51K Mustang fighters over the territory of the Third Reich in the closing phase of the Second World War. The text is by Tomasz Szlagor. The book combines a continuous account with period photographs and color side profiles.
The P-51 Mustang was an American single-engine fighter and its D version became the most widespread variant of the type. Thanks to the bubble canopy it offered excellent visibility, and in combination with its great range the Mustang became the key escort fighter of the daylight bombing raids of the Eighth Air Force (USAAF) deep over Germany. The K version differed from the D in the propeller used. The book covers combats with both conventional and jet machines of the Luftwaffe, attacks on ground targets and the fates of individual pilots and units.
It will be appreciated by aviation historians, collectors of literature and modelers looking for references to the color scheme and markings of particular Mustangs for building and painting a model.
