An ammunition belt with 20x82 ammunition for the German MG 151 aircraft weapon, in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The 20x82 millimeter round is the ammunition of the German MG 151/20 aircraft cannon, that is of the twenty millimeter variant of the weapon, which during the Second World War made up the main barrel armament of most Luftwaffe fighter types. The rounds were fed into the weapon in a belt made up of individual links; after firing these came apart and fell away, so there was no need to reckon with them on board any further. The belt led from the ammunition box to the weapon, and its run is visible everywhere the panels above the weapons are exposed.
In kits in 1:72 scale the belt is usually missing altogether, because in a closed wing it would not come into its own anyway. But as soon as you open the bay with the weapons or put the model into a maintenance scene, the empty space at the weapon catches the eye. A ready-made belt with legible links and cases saves the work of assembling individual rounds and keeps a regular spacing that is very hard to achieve by hand.
The parts are not polystyrene, so ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on them; use cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the rest off, so that the links of the belt are not damaged. Wash and degrease before painting. The cases look credible in a brass shade and the projectiles in a darker tone; fine differences between the individual rounds are added by a thin dark wash, which settles between the links.
For builders of German aircraft in 1:72 scale who build a model with the panels exposed or set it into a diorama. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
