Injection-molded sprues for the Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-3 in 1:48 scale. The box offers plastic; the builder chooses the accessory material to suit himself.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bf 109 E-3 stood in the front line as early as the autumn of 1939 and went through the campaigns over Poland, Norway and France. MG FF cannons fitted into its wing, whose slow projectile forced the pilots to shoot at short range, and above the engine it carried a pair of machine guns. The cockpit still had the older, less well glazed framing and behind it the armor plate was missing, which only later experience called for. Switzerland bought several dozen examples, where the aircraft kept their service even after the war and remain among the most photographed Emils of all.
You get the injection-molded sprues alone. The set does not assume that the customer will take home a complete set of equipment, so brass sheet, canopy masks and markings are not to be found in it. The sprues will serve just as well as a source of parts for a conversion to one of the foreign services of the type.
Not even the best brass part will stand up if the paint will not hold on it. The surface is smooth, greasy from fingers and has no pore for the shade to bite into, which is why photo-etched metal is washed with degreaser and sprayed with a primer coat. Injection-molded plastic forgives this preparation and will take paint even without an undercoat. It is one of the reasons why a build purely in plastic finishes sooner, albeit at the cost of small compromises in the thickness of the finest parts.
