The Carro Veloce L3/35 is an Italian tankette of the 1930s: a small tracked vehicle with a crew of two and a low superstructure without a rotating turret, derived from a British design which Italy built under license. A great number of them came about and the Italians committed them on practically every front where they operated. The version marked Lf was a flamethrower one: instead of the usual armament it carried a flamethrower and took its supply of incendiary mixture in a towed trailer. Against fortified positions it was dangerous, but against tanks it had no chance, because the thin armor did not withstand even anti-tank rifles.
The 1:100 scale belongs to the small formats. The finished vehicle fits into the palm of a hand, which comes in useful if you collect equipment in whole groups or build a scene with a larger number of machines for which there would be no room at a larger scale. At the same time it means working with small parts and that tweezers, a sharp blade and good light pay off.
Cut the excess material off a little way from the part and sand the remainder away carefully, so that the small shape is not damaged. Bond with super glue, which joins materials other than polystyrene as well, and apply it in small drops so that it does not run onto a visible surface. Before painting, wash the parts, degrease them and go over them with a primer. At a small scale choose shades a little lighter and a finer wash, otherwise the model goes dark and the detail is lost. A dry brush on the edges then draws out a shape that would otherwise disappear.
For collectors of Italian equipment of the Second World War and for builders of scenes where several vehicles together are needed. The paints, the glue and the tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
