A sealing ring is a part nobody thinks about until it stops doing its job. It sits between the paint cup and the body of the gun and keeps paint from escaping and air from getting in by any path but the intended one. When the ring hardens, swells or wears, the first signs are subtle: the paint bubbles, the spray breaks up, drops appear along the side of the cup. Compared with ordinary rubber, the Teflon version has the advantage of standing up better to solvents, which eat rubber away over time. The part is intended for selected airbrush models of this brand.

Use

• Before changing it, take the gun apart according to the manufacturer's instructions and lay the parts out in order.
• Take the old ring out with a plastic tool; a metal point will damage the seating surface.
• Clean dried paint off the seating surface, or even a new ring will not seal.
• Fit the new ring without force; a stretched or twisted ring seals no better than the old one.
• Once reassembled, test the flow with clean thinner before you spray paint.
