A kit of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo race car of the Ranier Racing team from 1981 in 1:24, in the version of Bobby Allison's car.
Responsibility details are not available.
Bobby Allison is among the most prominent drivers of the American oval scene of the 1970s and 1980s. In 1981 he drove for the Ranier Racing team, and the name of the set links him with precisely that stable's Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The cars of the top American series of the day looked like production coupes from the outside, but under the body they carried a tubular frame with a roll cage and a V8 engine at the front; they were built for long oval tracks, where endurance and the least possible air drag decided the outcome.
A plastic kit in 1:24, that is in the most common scale for car models. The finished car measures around twenty centimeters, so it is worth putting time into: the interior with the cage and the chassis are both clearly visible once built. The number of parts and the contents of the decal sheet for this version are stated by the manufacturer in the instructions.
Dry-fit the body before painting and check how it sits on the chassis; correcting that after painting is needlessly risky. Sand the surface, spray on a filler primer and apply the paint in thin coats. Create sharp divisions between the color fields with masking tape stuck on before spraying. Do not spray the tires pure black: a muted dark gray looks more faithful in scale, and pick out their sidewall lettering only once it has dried.
The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and putty are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
