The bracket serves to hold a single gas bottle of the kind fitted into modified street cars and drag cars in the trunk or behind the seats. In reality it is a band clamp with feet, with which the bottle is bolted firmly to the floor or to the frame so that it cannot move under acceleration.
This detail is almost never found in kits, and yet it is precisely what shows at first glance that a model was not built straight out of the box. The trunk of a production tooling tends to be skimped, and it is enough to add two or three separate elements to it for an open hatch to give the whole scene a point.
The package holds the bracket alone for 1:24. The bottle is a separate item, as is the version of the bracket for two bottles side by side, which the same manufacturer has under its own code. Check before the build, therefore, whether you already have the bottle, otherwise the mount will stay empty.
The part is small, so it pays to paint it before separating it from the carrier and to cut it off only at the very end. A dark base and a lightly polished silver paint suit a metallic look. On sports conversions markedly colorful finishes appear as well, because the bracket is clearly visible in the open space and owners like to match it to the color of the car.
It shows to best advantage in a scene with an open trunk or on a model with removable bodywork, where the inside is permanently open to view.
