A paint from the IONIC line carried under the manufacturer's part number IONIC-0159 and the name Stonewall Grey. It is a gray shade whose name points to stone masonry. Compare the exact tone against the manufacturer's color chart: the name identifies the shade but does not replace a sample, and paint in the bottle looks different from a thin dried coat on the model.
Gray tones are among the most heavily used paints on a modeling bench. They come into their own on masonry and concrete in a diorama, on paving and curbs, on ship decks, on landing gear and chassis, and on surfaces meant to look dusty. They sit well with earthy browns and with pigments, so the shade also serves as an undercoat for later grime and glazes. A lighter gray brightens edges and rivet lines, a darker one deepens corners and seams.
Stir the contents thoroughly before work, as the pigment settles at the bottom. Apply thin coats and add the next one only once the previous has dried; a single heavy coat clogs the engraved seams and the fine surface detail. Choose the thinner and the ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging; for an airbrush the paint needs more thinning than for a brush. Try the shade on a test piece first, because a large area always looks lighter than a small sample. Rinse the tools right after you finish, as a dried film is considerably harder to remove.
The package contains the stated shade. The thinner, brushes and varnishes are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
