Bullet-proof type bolts in the 1.5 mm size are an accessory set for military vehicle models. They replace molded detail on armor surfaces and seat into a drilled hole.

An accessory set of small imitation hardware for models of military vehicles. It is neither a kit nor a model. The parts are fitted to a build that is already under way and replace heads cast at the same time as the panel, which tend to be uneven and shallow.
In the larger scales the flaw in molded detail shows best, because the head is examined from close up. The draft angle takes away its height, the mold parting line part of its shape, and sanding a seam on a large plate levels it with its surroundings. With regular rows of heads on armor surfaces, these differences are glaring. A fitted part has the same outline across the whole surface and, after a wash, creates a clean shadow around itself.
Cut the original heads off flat with a scalpel and sand the surface with fine abrasive paper. Draw the spacing or mark it off a strip of paper, prick the centers with a point and drill the holes with a micro drill bit in a pin vise. Choose the diameter to match the shank of the part and make the hole shallow rather than deep, so that the head seats on its full face. Secure each part with a barely perceptible drop of cyanoacrylate glue from the tip of a wire.
The size follows the scale of the model, not how bold you want the detail to be. In this range the 1.5 mm designation is one of the larger sizes and corresponds rather to a scale around 1:35. Always compare the dimension with the part the set is to go on. Oversized hardware looks coarser than detail that is missing from the model altogether.
