A large injection-molded plastic kit of the cult Suzuki GSX1100S Katana motorcycle in the large 1:6 scale from Tamiya. It is a premium kit of the Big Scale series that faithfully captures the sharply cut shape of the legendary machine. The box offers front forks with metal parts and built-in springs, a detailed DOHC four with plated parts, realistic rubber tires and metal decals. The side covers make it possible to look in at the engine even after assembly.
The Suzuki GSX1100S Katana was presented at a show in 1980 and went on sale during 1981. Its name means sword in Japanese and refers to the sharp, futuristic design from a German studio, which stood out markedly from the motorcycles of its time. It was powered by an air-cooled DOHC inline four of about 1100 cc. The Katana became an icon and remains one of the most distinctive motorcycles of the 1980s.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies; glue the metal parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Finish and paint the frame, the engine and the exhausts before you fit the tank and the bodywork. In the large scale the detail of the engine and the chrome shows to advantage, so an airbrush, primer and patient polishing pay off. Bring out the chain and the wiring with metal shades; leave the plated parts glossy and apply the metal decals only to finished surfaces.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
