1:48 Fairey Gannet COD.4 double-sided fit and self adhesive express mask for Airfix

Art Scale 1:48 Fairey Gannet COD.4 - a double-sided self-adhesive painting mask

A set of precisely shaped self-adhesive masks from Art Scale for a model of the British Fairey Gannet COD.4 carrier aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor decals but an aid to a clean paint job: the double-sided express fit version makes it possible to mask the cabin glazing from the outside and from the inside, so the frames can be painted from within as well. The set is designed for the Airfix kit.

Use

• Lift the masks off the sheet and stick them accurately onto the outer and the inner side of the glazing frames.
• Apply the paint with an airbrush or a spray can in thin coats, so it does not creep underneath.
• Once it has dried, lift the masks off carefully and you get sharp transitions on both sides of the glazing.
• Double-sided covering will be appreciated by builders who want faithful cabin frames even when looking into the interior.

The real subject

The Fairey Gannet COD.4 was the transport version of the British carrier aircraft (Carrier Onboard Delivery) serving to supply ships at sea; it grew out of the anti-submarine and patrol variants of the Gannet with their distinctive coupled turboprop powerplant. The cabin glazing is a laborious but striking place to mask on the model.

Who the mask is for

For more demanding modelers who want perfectly painted glazing frames on both sides. The masks are neither paint nor glue, and the model itself is not included in the package.

Apply paints in a well-ventilated space and follow the safety instructions of the paint manufacturer.
