About product

Art Scale ASK CA Glue Thick for 3D printing, 20 g

A thick cyanoacrylate (CA) glue from the manufacturer Art Scale, intended for gluing 3D printed parts — cured resin as well as common print plastics. Compared with the thin version it has a markedly higher viscosity: it stays where you put it, does not run down the part and fills even a gap between surfaces that do not meet quite precisely. At the same time the joint does not grab instantly, so you have a short moment to fine-tune the position of the part before you fix it with a squeeze. A 20 g package in a bottle with an application tip.

Use

  • Apply a small amount to one of the mating surfaces, bring the parts together and hold them firmly for a few seconds until the joint sets.
  • Ideal for larger or less precise parts, repairs and building up — the higher viscosity fills small gaps.
  • It suits cases where you need time to position a part and a thin glue would escape into the seam before you have aligned it.
  • The surface must be dry, degreased and free of dust from sanding or of uncured resin residue.
  • It is not suitable for expanded polystyrene, polyethylene, PTFE or silicone.
  • Excess glue can be sanded away once cured; cured CA is hard and sands well.

Who it is for

For modelers working with 3D prints who need a reliable joint even where the parts do not fit quite perfectly — on larger parts, repairs, attaching accessories or gluing onto a very small mating surface. A thick CA is the logical counterpart to the thin version: thin for precise joints, thick for gaps and for more time to position a part.

Safety: cyanoacrylate bonds skin and fingers instantly and is dangerous to the eyes. Work in a well-ventilated area, protect your eyes and hands and do not breathe the fumes. Keep out of the reach of children and store the bottle cool and well closed.

FAQ

The thick one has a higher viscosity: it is applied to a surface, stays in place, fills a gap and leaves you a short moment to align the part. The thin one, by contrast, flows into an already closed seam by capillary action and suits only precisely fitting parts.

Yes, that is its main advantage — the thick consistency fills a small gap and strengthens the joint. With larger gaps, though, it is still better to true the surfaces up mechanically first and fill any remainder with filler.

Yes, cured cyanoacrylate is hard and the excess on a joint can be sanded away. Sand with respiratory protection and preferably wet, so that the dust does not fly about.
