This set brings a faithfully rendered Wright R-3350 radial engine in 1:32 scale, made by modern 3D printing. It is not an aircraft kit but a refining accessory (a detail set) that replaces the simplified engine in a plastic kit and reveals the fine finning of the cylinders, the ignition harness and the accessories in a way injection-molded plastic cannot reach.
The Wright R-3350 Duplex-Cyclone is a two-row eighteen-cylinder air-cooled radial engine of almost 55 liters. It powered a number of important aircraft, among them the B-29 Superfortress bomber and postwar transport and combat machines. The engine is one of the icons of the era of large piston powerplants.
Separate the 3D-printed parts carefully from the supports and clean them up. Use super glue (cyanoacrylate) for gluing. Spraying the engine in metallic shades first and then bringing up the harness and the joints with a wash and a dry brush works well, so that the structure stands out. Protect your airways while sanding.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The target kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
