A lower engine cowling with a plug for a model of the Bf 109 G-6 in 1:32 scale, intended for Revell kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bf 109 G-6 is the most numerously built version of the German fighter of the Second World War. It can be told by the prominent bulges over the gun covers ahead of the cockpit. On this version the lower part of the engine cowling forms a continuous surface with cut-outs for cooling, and on a model in a large scale it is clearly visible.
The set carries the lower engine cowling and the plug that goes under it, adapted to the Bf 109 G-6 kits from Revell in 1:32 scale. The plug fills the space under the cowling, so the front end of the aircraft can be closed up and a whole powerplant need not be built beneath it. The seating procedure is described in the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are not polystyrene and are bonded with super glue. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down so that the cowling lines up with the fuselage without a step. Wash and degrease everything before painting. Try the seating dry first and even out any gap by sanding the mating surface rather than with putty on a visible surface. Once finished, draw the panel joints out with a dark wash so that the division of the cowling stays legible even under the paint.
The set belongs to modelers who are building a large Bf 109 with a closed front end and want the lower cowling in a more accurate shape. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
