Yakovlev Yak-7B 1:48, EXPERT kabuki masks (New Ware) are precisely shaped painting masks for a clean spray on the glazing and other details of a model. Intended for the Zvezda kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a set of painting masks from New Ware for a model of the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-7B fighter in 1:48 scale. The masks are cut from thin Japanese kabuki tape, which follows the framing of the canopy and the other clear parts exactly. The EXPERT range is the extended variant: besides the exterior masking it also holds masks for the inside of the glazing, so the frames look faithful from both sides. The target kit is Zvezda.
Kabuki tape holds its shape, follows curved surfaces well and leaves no adhesive behind when peeled off. Thanks to the accurate shaping there is no laborious cutting from masking tape and the edges of the spray are crisp. Besides the glazing, the sets usually cover the wheels and other small areas to be masked.
Degrease the surfaces before applying them, move the masks one at a time and press them carefully against the edges of the frames. Lay the paint on in thin coats so that it does not creep under the edge. Take the mask off soon after it has dried, at a slight angle. For the EXPERT interior masking it is best to spray the cockpit interior color first.
The masks are an accessory, not a model. The paints and the kit are not included in the package.
