Responsibility details are not available.
This Kagero publication is carried in the series as the seventeenth volume and is devoted to Thunderbolt fighters with the Eighth Air Force of the United States in the last months of the war in Europe. It is the period when the weight of fighter operations was shifting from escorting bomber formations to attacks on ground targets.
The Thunderbolt was among the most rugged fighters of the Second World War. It was powered by a hefty radial engine with an exhaust-driven turbocharger whose installation filled the rear of the fuselage and gave the aircraft its characteristically paunchy silhouette. At great heights it drew performance from that, and down low it drew on the strength of the structure, thanks to which machines came home even with the skin badly torn. That is precisely why its wartime career ended in attacks on ground targets.
What is supplied is the publication alone. A model, decals and other modeling goods are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The page count, the language of the edition and the illustrations are given by the publisher with the particular title.
