1:700 Scharnhorst 1943 - photo-etched sheets from Flyhawk is an extensive photo-etched accessory intended for the Flyhawk kit of the German battleship Scharnhorst in her 1943 condition.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched set from Flyhawk in 1:700 scale, intended for the same maker's kit of the battleship Scharnhorst in her 1943 condition. It is an accessory, not a model in its own right: the etched sheets replace and add to the plastic parts of the kit with fine metal details that give a miniature model the look of a much larger scale.
Scharnhorst, classified by the Kriegsmarine as a battleship and often described in British literature as a battlecruiser, was among the most active German surface units of the Second World War. She took part in the operations off Norway and in the Channel Dash. The year 1943 found the ship in Norwegian waters, from where she sailed to her last engagement - at the Battle of the North Cape in December 1943 she was sunk by a British force led by the battleship Duke of York.
Work through a larger photo-etched set step by step by sub-assembly and cut the parts out only just before using them. A photo-etch bender makes the bending easier, small parts can be moved with a dampened toothpick and glued with the smallest possible amount of super glue. Spray the metal parts with primer before painting. It pays to work from photographs of the real ship from the period concerned.
This is an accessory photo-etched set - the basic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
