Wooden deck, masks and planking masks for the battleship Bismarck as of 1941 in 1:700 scale take the place of the engraved plastic deck with a real veneer with pre-printed planks. Meant for the Flyhawk FH1132 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A combined package of accessories for the plastic kit of the German battleship Bismarck as she was in 1941. According to the name it holds a self-adhesive wooden deck with pre-printed plank laying, covering masks and planking masks for areas where the veneer is not used. The ship model itself is not part of it.
The veneer comes out of the package in a natural light tone. Left that way, the deck will look new, almost as if just rebuilt; most builders therefore shift the shade. The safest way is a very thin stain applied in one or two light coats. A heavy coat saturates the material with moisture, the veneer ripples and the pre-printed grid of planks smears. Always test the stain on an offcut, because the same product gives a different result on light veneer than on a swatch.
The character of a deck is made above all by the shadow in the seams. Once the stain is dry, go over the area with a thin coat of matte varnish to seal the surface, and only then apply a very thin dark wash. Draw the excess off with a cloth in the direction of the planks, never across them. The rest stays in the engraved seams and the deck gains depth. Never reverse the order: a wash applied directly to unsealed veneer soaks into the wood and cannot be evened out.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a model. The kit, stain, paints and varnish are not included in the package. The set is cut for the Flyhawk FH1132 kit; check the match before buying.
