The Artwox Model veneer deck in 1:700 scale for the German battlecruiser Von der Tann in her 1910 state replaces the plastic deck with a self-adhesive veneer with printed planks.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory to a ship kit, not a model. The pre-cut sheet of thin natural veneer has a self-adhesive back and on the face the laying of the deck planks printed on it, the gaps included. Once it is glued on, it replaces a molded or engraved imitation with a surface of real wood, which on ships of the beginning of the 20th century, where the wooden deck makes up a large part of the visible area, is especially noticeable.
The Von der Tann was the first German battlecruiser, taken into service in 1910. She carried eight 280 mm guns and against contemporary battleships she was marked by a higher speed at the price of weaker armor, which was a typical choice for the concept of battlecruisers of the time. The figure 1910 in the name refers to the configuration of the ship from the time she was taken into service.
The flatness and cleanliness of the base is decisive. If the hull of your model is of resin, wash it thoroughly in warm water with detergent and remove the remains of the release agent from the mold, or the self-adhesive layer will not grip and the veneer will come away in time. On plastic hulls it is enough to sand the parting seams down and degrease the area with alcohol. Lay the veneer only onto a dry and flat surface, pull the film off in sections and press the wood down with a blunt flat tool.
The deck is a modeling accessory, not a kit of the ship. The model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
