The Artwox Model 1:700 wooden deck for the Japanese ship IJN Amagi is a self-adhesive veneer with the pattern of the deck planks printed on it, intended to be stuck onto the deck of a plastic kit. Intended for the Fujimi 401041 kit.

The set holds a pre-cut sheet of natural veneer with a self-adhesive layer and with the printed laying of the planks, cut for the deck areas of a ship model in 1:700 scale. Once glued on it replaces the plastic deck of the kit with a surface of real wood. This is an aftermarket accessory for building a model, not a kit in its own right. More than one vessel of the Imperial Japanese Navy carried the name Amagi, so before ordering check that the set matches the model you are building, as the layout of the decks differs fundamentally between the individual ships. The set is intended for the Fujimi 401041 kit.
The Imperial Japanese Navy used the designation Amagi for ships from different periods and of different purposes, so the particular subject cannot be determined from the name alone. What they have in common is the period of the first half of the twentieth century and the Japanese school of design, for which extensive wood-covered deck areas were typical. What decides is therefore which kit the set belongs to.
The cleanness of the cut matters more with this set than on large smooth decks. Always fit a new blade in the scalpel: a blunt edge does not tear thin veneer cleanly, and a frayed edge shows once it is glued on. Cut on a smooth surface, in one stroke and with pressure rather than sawing. Leave the overlaps slightly larger and trim them on the model along the real edge of the plastic. Keep the offcuts from the edges of the sheet: they are useful for testing stain, wash and varnish before you touch the deck itself.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model. The kit, glue, paints and photo-etched parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
