The Artwox Model 1:700 wooden deck for the battleship Fuso in her 1944 state is an aftermarket accessory to a plastic kit. A self-adhesive veneer with the laying of the planks marked on it will replace an engraved plastic deck. The target kit is the Aoshima 049808.

This is not a model of the ship but an accessory to a plastic kit in 1:700 scale. Artwox Model cuts the deck parts from thin wooden veneer with the laying of the planks marked on it; the back carries a self-adhesive layer, so the parts are applied straight onto the plastic deck. On a battleship these are extensive areas with a number of cutouts around the turrets and the superstructures, so the result works on a model at once. The set is cut for the Aoshima 049808 kit.
The Fuso was a battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy, completed in the middle of the 1910s. The main armament consisted of twelve 356 mm guns in six twin turrets spread along the length of the hull. During rebuilds in the 1930s the ship received a markedly reconstructed superstructure of the so-called pagoda type, a new power plant and strengthened armor; the silhouette of 1944 is therefore very different from the original state. The ship was lost in October 1944 in the fighting in the Surigao Strait.
With large deck parts it pays not to hurry. Uncover the backing film on the reverse in sections, ideally from the center of the part toward the edges, and press the veneer down gradually with a flat tool, so that no air is closed under it. An extensive area easily leads to a shift of a fraction of a millimeter, which then accumulates at the bow; so align the part first by the openings for the turrets and only then glue the ends down. The plastic under the veneer must be flat and degreased. Spray the sides of the hull and the superstructures before you glue the deck on, and you will save yourself masking.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit. The kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
