The Artwox Model veneer deck in 1:700 scale for the Japanese battleship Fuso is a self-adhesive sheet of natural wood with the laying of the planks printed on it, cut to the shape of the deck areas of the model. The sheet is cut to the outline of the decks of the Fujimi 431154 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory to the Fujimi 431154 kit, not a model. Thin natural veneer with a self-adhesive back is pre-cut to the outline of the deck areas and on the face it carries the printed laying of the planks with their gaps. It thus replaces an engraved plastic deck with a surface of real wood and saves the work of painting and scribing.
The Fuso was a Japanese battleship completed in 1915 and the lead unit of the class of the same name. The main armament consisted of twelve 356 mm guns in six twin turrets spread along the length of the hull. After the interwar rebuilds the ship gained a tall multi-level superstructure above the bridge, which is among her most distinctive recognition marks.
Veneer is sensitive to damp and to permanent bending. Store the sheet flat, in the dry and unloaded, because a rippled sheet glues badly and holds air in the bends. Before working, let the package come to the temperature of the room you build in; the move from cold to warmth deforms wood for a while. Once the deck is glued on, go over the whole of it once more with a blunt tool, especially along the edges and around the cutouts, and secure the corners with a drop of thin glue. Finally seal the surface with matte varnish in fine passes.
The deck is a modeling accessory, not a kit of the ship. The model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
