About product

Fujimi 1:700 IJN Light Cruiser Naka

An injection-molded plastic kit of a ship in 1:700 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi. It captures the light cruiser Naka of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The model is intended to be assembled and painted; the contents of the package and any accessories depend on the particular item.

The real subject

The Naka was a light cruiser belonging to the Sendai class. These fast cruisers served above all as flagships of destroyer flotillas and carried light gun and torpedo armament. The ship was committed to operations of the Second World War in the Pacific.

Building and painting tips

The hull can be built in the full-hull form or as a waterline version on the water, according to the contents of the kit. The fine elements of the superstructures and the railings are worth supplementing with photo-etched parts, which are sold separately. Paint with an airbrush, set the deck and the hull apart by masking, and create the weathering with thin washes in the engraved lines.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of warships in 1:700 scale
  • Anyone interested in the Imperial Japanese Navy
  • Modelers with experience of small scales
  • Builders looking for the subject of a light cruiser

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
