A veneer deck for the Japanese battleship Yamato in 1:700 scale from Artwox Model will replace the plastic deck with wooden veneer with the laying of the planks printed on it. The set is cut for the Fujimi 421506 kit.

This is not a model of the ship but an aftermarket accessory to a plastic kit. A sheet of thin wooden veneer with the printed laying of the deck planks and with a self-adhesive back sticks directly onto the plastic deck. The set is cut for the Fujimi 421506 kit; a deck of the same name intended for another kit exists as well, so what decides the choice is which kit you are building.
The Yamato was the lead ship of the class of the same name of Japanese battleships, brought into service at the end of 1941. The main armament consisted of nine 460 mm guns in three triple turrets, which was the largest caliber ever taken into service on a battleship. The high reserve of displacement showed in the characteristic shape of the hull with its flared bow and the massive armored citadel block. The ship was lost in April 1945 during an operation in the East China Sea.
The expansive main deck of the Yamato is broken up by the barbettes of the three gun turrets and by the bases of the superstructures, so the veneer is glued on in parts and has to go around them precisely. Before you start, sand the engraving of the planks on the plastic smooth and degrease it with alcohol. Lay the individual segments in order from the stern to the bow and put each one on dry before you remove the film. The gaps between the segments are most visible against the light, so check the model from a sharp angle before you press them down. Deal with the transition from the veneer to the steel areas with a thin line of dark paint, so that the gap disappears optically.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model of the ship. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
