The Aoshima 1:700 Japanese heavy cruiser Chokai (1942, the battle of the Solomon Islands) plastic kit captures a unit of the Imperial Japanese Navy in the waterline ship scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An unassembled injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese firm Aoshima in 1:700 scale. The subject is the heavy cruiser Chokai of the Imperial Japanese Navy in her 1942 fit, from the period of the fighting around the Solomon Islands. The model is rendered in the waterline concept for standing on a water base or in a diorama and is meant to be glued together and painted.
The Chokai was a heavy cruiser with a striking superstructure and strong gun as well as torpedo armament. Ships of this class were among the most capable Japanese cruisers and took part in a number of night gunnery actions in the South Pacific, among them the fighting around the Solomon Islands in 1942.
Glue the hull and the superstructures with liquid cement for plastic and fit the small gun turrets and masts with a light touch. Lay the base shade of the hull on with an airbrush and bring out the decks and the details with darker shades and gentle highlighting of the engraved lines. Separate photo-etched railings and fittings will complete the model. It shows at its best on a stand as well as in a waterline diorama.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
