Masking sheets for the deck of the battleship Mikasa in 1:700 scale from Artwox Model let you spray the deck surfaces with a clean edge. This is an accessory for a ship kit, not a model. Intended for the Hasegawa 43170 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains pre-cut masking sheets that follow the shape of the decks of the battleship Mikasa in 1:700 scale. The cut is based on the Hasegawa 43170 kit. The model, paints and glue are not included; this is purely an aid for painting.
Mikasa is a ship of an older school of design and her deck is not one continuous surface but a series of smaller sections interrupted by the superstructure, turrets and casemates. Tape cut by hand is hard to join up in such a broken layout and the boundary between the individual sections drifts. Ready-made cutouts hold the same line along the whole length of the ship, which shows clearly on a model where the deck is permanently in view.
Think the painting order through in advance: usually the shade of the deck is finished first, then masked, and only after that do the metal surfaces follow. Lay the sheets down one at a time and check at once whether they cover right up to the feet of the superstructure. If a cutout overhangs a detail somewhere, trim it with a fresh scalpel blade directly on the model, but run the cut lightly so that it does not damage the plastic under the mask. Spray in thin coats and remove the mask before the paint has cured completely.
An accessory for a model, not a kit. The base model and paints are not included in the package. Before you buy, check that your kit matches the one the set is intended for.
