About product

Photo-etched Kriegsmarine railings (1:700, Eduard)

This photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard holds fine ship railings matching German wartime fleet practice for models in 1:700 scale. It is not a model or a kit, but an accessory that replaces thick plastic railings with thin metal parts and so raises the realism of the decks and the superstructure.

What the accessory is for

Railings are one of the most conspicuous details of a ship model. The plastic ones tend to be too heavy, whereas photo-etched railings are very thin and fine and match the typical pattern of Kriegsmarine ships. The set is usually usable across several German vessels in that scale.

Usage tips

Separate the strips of railing with a sharp knife and shape them with tweezers to follow the outline of the deck exactly. Use super glue (cyanoacrylate) in short sections. Degrease the metal and spray it with primer before painting.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of German warships in 1:700 scale
  • Modelers who want to replace coarse plastic railings
  • Anyone making realistic ship dioramas
  • Advanced modelers with experience of photo-etched parts

This is an add-on photo-etched set, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.

FAQ

It holds fine photo-etched railings with which you replace the thick plastic railings on models of German ships in 1:700 scale.

As a rule yes; it is a more universal set for Kriegsmarine vessels in that scale.

Super glue in short sections works best, and the parts are shaped with tweezers.
