A plastic kit of the brand AFV Club in 1:700 scale. Set B is aimed at the modern shipborne machines MH-60R, MQ-8C, OH-58D and RQ-8B, that is at the combination of manned helicopters and unmanned aircraft that really does meet on the decks of American ships today. The models are tiny and they serve above all to fit out the helicopter deck of a model of a warship.
The MH-60R Seahawk is the most modern naval version of the S-70 family, adapted for fighting submarines and surface targets alike. The OH-58D Kiowa Warrior is a light reconnaissance and attack helicopter with its characteristic sight mounted above the rotor head, which was used from the decks of ships as well. The MQ-8C and RQ-8B Fire Scout, by contrast, are unmanned helicopters for reconnaissance and target tracking, and the newer MQ-8C grows out of a larger civilian machine and has a markedly greater range and endurance than the older RQ-8B. The set thus shows nicely the shift of naval aviation toward a division of work between a crew and a machine without a pilot.
Separate the tiny parts with a sharp blade and work with tweezers. Add the rotor blades and the landing gear only after the fuselage has been painted, otherwise they break off easily. The gray naval shades will stand out when you graduate them a shade lighter on the upper surfaces, and a fine wash will bring out the panel lines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
