Aoshima 1:700 Nisshin — a plastic kit of the Japanese special-purpose ship that served as a carrier of midget submarines of the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the Japanese special-purpose ship Nisshin in 1:700 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima. Nisshin is among the less usual subjects that pleasantly broaden a collection focused on the Imperial Japanese Navy — alongside battleships and aircraft carriers she represents a special category of vessels built for specific tasks.
Nisshin was completed in 1942 as a fast special-purpose ship of the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was designed to carry floatplanes and above all Type A midget submarines (ko-hyoteki), which she was to deliver to the operational area. Thanks to her high speed she was also used during the war for fast transport and supply missions in the South Pacific. In July 1943, on one of those voyages to Bougainville, she was sunk by American aircraft.
Start the build with the hull and the main deck assemblies and leave the small equipment and the masts for the end. Spray the gray shades of the Imperial Japanese Navy with an airbrush, set the deck apart and bring out the recesses with a fine wash. Rigging from tensioned thin thread and discreet weathering will give a small ship surprising life. The model looks beautiful on a simple water surface or a polished stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
