An accessory item from the Czech brand Black Dog that extends ship models in 1:700 scale with shipping containers. It comes into its own wherever the living setting of a terminal, a cargo quay or a supply area is meant to appear around a hull and where the bare surface of the groundwork would look unfinished.
This is a group of small elements to be placed around a deck, a quay or the area of a diorama. Do not look for a ship or a vehicle in the item; these are containers and nothing else. Neither the exact make-up of the set nor the number of pieces can be read from the name, so prepare the layout of the scene only once you have the actual contents, which you should lay out on paper after unpacking and try arranging dry.
Containers look convincing in stacks of two or three layers, slightly turned against one another; a perfectly aligned row gives away that this is a model. They can be painted with a brush or an airbrush: lay down a rich base shade, pick a few pieces out in a different color and tie the whole together with a dark shading into the joints. At 1:700 scale a faint hint of rust and scuffing is enough; heavy patina would overwhelm the small shapes.
What is included is the set of containers alone – the basic ship model, the paints and the glue are not supplied with it.
