The Artwox Model 1:700 wooden deck for the battleship USS Missouri BB-63 in her 1991 state is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model. A self-adhesive veneer will replace an engraved plastic deck. Intended for the Trumpeter 05705 kit.

This is an aftermarket accessory to a plastic kit in 1:700 scale. The set holds deck parts cut from thin wooden veneer with the laying of the planks marked on it and with a self-adhesive layer on the back. The expansive deck of a battleship is the place where a wooden replacement tells most, because plastic engraving over an area this large reads flat. The set is cut for the Trumpeter 05705 kit.
The USS Missouri was a battleship of the Iowa class with nine 406 mm guns in three triple turrets. In the 1980s she went through a modernization in which part of the light armament was replaced by guided missile launch containers, modern radars and close-in defense systems. The form of 1991, when the ship was deployed in the Persian Gulf, therefore differs from her wartime appearance in the arrangement of the superstructures as well as the equipment of the deck. The ship kept her laid wooden decks throughout her service.
On the long hull of a battleship watch the longitudinal alignment. Before you remove the film, lay the part on dry and check that the axis of the planks agrees with the axis of the hull; a deviation of one degree is noticeable at the stern. The veneer must not overhang the edge of the side, as that is where it peels off fastest, so rather trim it tight to the edge than flush. On a model in the modern finish the deck looks better if you only even it out slightly with a thin gray filter and add light worn traces in the places of service, rather than continuous dirt.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit. The kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
