An injection-molded plastic kit of the American aircraft carrier USS Essex (CV-9) in 1:700 scale from Trumpeter. The model can be built with a full hull or as a waterline version, and a base and a decal sheet are included. The finished model measures roughly 37.9 cm and it is a large kit with a richly detailed flight deck.
USS Essex was the lead ship of the American aircraft carrier class of the same name, the backbone of the Pacific fleet during the Second World War. She was marked by a long flight deck, an island superstructure to starboard and a heavy anti-aircraft armament. The model captures the wartime appearance of the ship from her Pacific service.
Decide between the full hull and the waterline version in advance. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement and the small and photo-etched parts with super glue. Apply the flight deck and the period camouflage scheme with an airbrush after priming; photo-etched railings and antennas will raise the fidelity.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
