Injection-molded plastic kit of the American fleet submarine USS Gato as she was in 1941, in 1:700 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a simple submarine kit with a low parts count, a full hull, decals and a display base. The model offers a choice of the forward diving planes and the conning tower in the surfaced or the submerged configuration.
USS Gato was the lead boat of the class of the same name of American fleet submarines, which in the Second World War bore the main weight of the undersea war in the Pacific. They were fast, rugged, well armed and adapted to long patrols over great distances. The model captures her early 1941 shape.
Glue the hull halves together and sand the parting line, then choose the position of the diving planes and the conning tower. A base coat, an airbrush in the period American shades of the early war and light highlighting of the deck and the details with a wash are the way to go. The model goes on display on the supplied base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
