This plastic kit in 1:700 scale from Trumpeter captures the American aircraft carrier USS Intrepid in her later anti-submarine configuration designated CVS-11, with an angled deck. The kit holds models of the carrier aircraft, photo-etched parts and decals. Once assembled it makes an impressive model of a classic American carrier.
USS Intrepid belonged to the Essex class, the most numerous class of aircraft carriers built during the Second World War. The ship took part in the fighting in the Pacific, and after the war she was modernized and rebuilt so that she could operate jet aircraft. In the end she served as an anti-submarine carrier under the CVS designation.
On ships of this scale everything hangs on clean joints between the hull and the deck. Glue the small photo-etched parts, such as the railings and the safety nets, with cyanoacrylate glue. An airbrush suits a faithful finish, with fine shading of the deck and restrained weathering. The model can be set on a stand or finished on a water surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
