An injection-molded plastic kit of the Italian 3Ro heavy truck carrying the 100 mm howitzer 100/17 in 1:72 scale from the Polish manufacturer IBG Models. It is a modern tooling; according to the manufacturer, photo-etched parts are included as well. The model joins a truck and artillery armament into one complete kit.
The 3Ro was a heavy truck developed at the end of the 1930s, which became the backbone of the Italian army's heavy transport in World War II. It was powered by a five-cylinder diesel engine and the vehicle proved itself in every campaign – in the Balkans, in North Africa and on the Eastern Front; the Germans took a liking to it as well. The version with the 100 mm howitzer 100/17 joined a truck with an artillery weapon; the 100/17 gun came out of an Austro-Hungarian mountain howitzer of World War I and in Africa it was also used in direct combat against armored targets.
In the small 1:72 scale, work by sub-assemblies – first the chassis and the cab, and the howitzer and its mounting separately. Fold the small photo-etched parts with tweezers and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Glue the plastic with thin cement for polystyrene. Before painting, spray a thin primer; for Italian hardware a sand or dark green base comes in handy. Fine weathering is created with a faint wash in the recesses, a dry brush on the edges and pigments for dust and mud – in a small scale all of it restrained.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
