This full Eduard photo-etched set represents the electronic equipment bays of the Grumman A-6E Intruder carrier attack aircraft for models in 1:72 scale. Electronics were quite literally what defined the Intruder, so representing them gives a model unexpected depth and a story to tell. The set serves as an accessory to the base kit and in no way replaces it.
The Grumman A-6 Intruder came about as a carrier attack aircraft of the US Navy able to find and hit a target at night and in the worst weather. The two-man crew sat side by side and the bombardier-navigator operated extensive avionics that were quite exceptional for their day. The A-6E version brought a more modern radar and computing, and with step-by-step changes it served from the early 1970s to the mid-1990s, among other places over Lebanon, Libya and in Operation Desert Storm.
Fold the walls of the equipment bays into a right angle with a small metal square for support, because squareness is the foundation here. Before you close the assemblies, think through the order of painting and completion, as later work inside is not possible. Glue the fine frames with gel cyanoacrylate, which leaves time to fine-tune the position.
