A set of resin exhausts for the Japanese Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero carrier fighter in 1:72 scale. It is an aftermarket detail part that replaces the simplified plastic exhausts from the base kit, not a stand-alone airplane model. The A6M5 version was recognizable from earlier Zeros precisely by its individual thrust-augmenting exhaust stacks.
The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was a Japanese single-engine carrier fighter of the Second World War with a Nakajima Sakae radial engine. The A6M5 version (Model 52) received the Sakae 21 engine with individual exhaust stacks led out of the cowling, which also added thrust. It was one of the most numerous Zero variants of the later part of the war.
Resin parts call for more careful work than plastic: first wash them free of mold release residue, separate them carefully from the casting block and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Protect your airways when sanding and cutting small parts. Apply a primer before painting. The individual exhaust stacks are small and fragile, so separate them carefully; once painted in dark metal and rusty shades, their outlets around the engine cowling stand out.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
