This item from MH models is not a kit of an aircraft but a detail set that replaces the wheels from a plastic kit. A resin casting holds a sharper shape than an injection-molded part, so the tread pattern shows on the tires and the division of the rims on the wheels. On a biplane with a fixed landing gear the wheels are clearly visible, and swapping them for a better casting is noticed in the overall impression of the model at once.
The Aero A-101 was a Czechoslovak single-engine biplane of the 1930s that grew out of the earlier A-100 type and served as a reconnaissance and light bombing machine. The version designated Ab-101 was the bomber. The machine was powered by a liquid-cooled engine and some of the aircraft built went abroad, among other places to Spain, so a foreign color scheme is an option too. The landing gear was fixed and the wheels stayed permanently in view, which is a good reason to improve them.
First wash the resin parts in warm water with detergent - residue of mold release agent tends to be on the surface, and neither paint nor glue holds over it. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutting disc rather than with nippers; resin breaks and you could snap the part off along with a piece of the casting. Sanding is better done wet and with breathing protection, because resin dust is not to be breathed in. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and glue intended for plastic does not work here. Apply a primer before painting, spray the tire in a very dark gray rather than pure black, and mask the rim or paint it in with a brush. At the end add a light dust pigment to the tread.
