The first generation of infrared missiles, AIM-9B Sidewinder, a four-piece package in 1:72. Fine resin printing from the brand AMMO of Mig Jimenez.
Responsibility details are not available.
Four early Sidewinders intended to be hung under the wings or on the wingtip pylons of machines from the beginning of the jet era. The parts were made by 3D printing from resin at a fine resolution, so they hold the shape of the canards and the breakdown of the body. Decals go with the set. They will replace the simplified missiles that tend to be in the boxes of older molds.
The Sidewinder came into being at an American naval test establishment as an exceptionally simple weapon: a charge, a motor and an uncooled sensor reacting to the hot exhaust of a jet engine. It was precisely for that reason that it could be launched only from behind and only in good visibility. It proved itself in combat in 1958 over the Taiwan Strait and indirectly served as the subject for the Soviet K-13 as well. It was carried by F-86 Sabres, F-104 Starfighters, F-101 Voodoos, A-4 Skyhawks and the first Phantoms.
Take the supports off with a fine-toothed saw and sand the faces down, so that the small fins stay sharp. Cyanoacrylate will make the joints, ideally a gel one, which gives time for setting in place. It is a good idea to spray straight over a primer layer. The light bodies of the early missiles will take light dirtying, but not a heavy patina.
A kit of the aircraft and paints are not enclosed.
