Four resin AIM-9X short-range missiles for models of combat aircraft in 1:72 scale. A sharp casting with thin fins that replaces the coarse parts from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The AIM-9X missile moved the proven short-range weapon into a different class. It received an imaging infrared seeker head, which distinguishes the shape of a target instead of a mere thermal point, and thrust vectoring, thanks to which it manages a turn right after release. Together with a helmet-mounted sight it allowed a pilot to launch a missile at a target off the axis of flight, which fundamentally changed the rules of close combat. It entered service at the start of the millennium and most Western combat types carry it today.
Its recognition mark is a slender body with short control surfaces at the front and triangular stabilizers at the back. It is exactly those that are as a rule too thick on injected parts, with their edges rounded.
The package contains four pieces, that is enough for the full underwing fit of one machine or for completing two models. The casting is in one piece, so there is no gluing of halves and no sanding of a parting line along the whole missile.
The brand keeps the same weapon in larger scales too, where there are, however, fewer pieces in the package. For a model with two pylons at the wingtips a pair will thus be left in reserve for next time.
