A propeller set for a model of the German Arado Ar 196 carrier reconnaissance aircraft in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Arado Ar 196 was a German reconnaissance aircraft of the Second World War on a pair of floats. It took off from the catapults of surface ships and from coastal bases and patrolled over the sea. It was powered by a BMW 132 radial engine, whose massive nose gives a model its characteristic silhouette.
A propeller sits right on the line of sight to a model and the viewer's eye finds it first. A separate set offers a replacement for the kit part with a finer transition from blade to hub and with a cleaner blade profile, which on kit parts tends to be thickened. It also pays off when the original propeller is damaged or lost during the build.
Handle the blades carefully; the thin tips break off easily. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder so that the hub seats on the axis. Before painting, wash and degrease the part, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Try the attachment to the engine dry and widen any hole carefully with a drill bit. Choose the coloring of the blades and the hub according to material on the particular machine, and at the end suggest the wear on the leading edges, which were abraded by spray.
This is an accessory for a model of an aircraft. Paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
