An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Arado Ar-66 biplane in its single-seat form for night ground attack duty (Nachtschlacht single-seater) in 1:72 scale from RS models. It is a short-run kit intended for more experienced modelers. The box contains injection-molded plastic sprues, clear parts and a decal sheet with several marking options; check the exact contents against the particular edition.
The Arado Ar-66 appeared at the beginning of the 1930s as a German training biplane with a V-form Argus engine. During the Second World War a number of the machines found a role in night ground attack squadrons (Nachtschlacht) on the Eastern Front. Some of the aircraft were converted to single-seaters for this purpose — in place of the second crew member they carried an additional bomb load for harassing ground targets at night. It is this single-seat ground attack conversion that the model captures.
As with short-run kits, count on careful cutting of the parts from the sprues, cleaning up and dry test fitting. Glue the joints with liquid cement for plastic, and super glue will help with the small and clear parts. On a biplane, mind the accurate seating of the upper wing and the struts. Apply a gloss clear coat before the decals and unify the surface with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
