A pre-cut self-adhesive masking set for the British Airspeed AS.51 Horsa assault glider in the Mk.I and Mk.II versions in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand Peewit. It is not a model but a set of accurately cut masks of fine masking tape, which make it easier to spray the frames of the cockpit glazing and further areas cleanly with none of the labor of cutting tape by hand.
The Horsa was a large wooden transport glider which in the Second World War carried paratroopers and light equipment; it was used among other things in the Normandy landings and in the operation at Arnhem. A tug towed it to its objective and, once released, it glided down to land behind the lines. The Mk.II version differed from the Mk.I above all in its hinged nose, which made loading vehicles and cargo easier. The extensive glazing of the pilot's cockpit is a rewarding place for accurate masking.
Move the masks onto a perfectly clean, degreased surface, seat them exactly and press the edges down carefully with a toothpick or a burnisher, so that no paint can run under them. Spray the inner shade of the framing first, then the outer color once it has dried, and lift the masks off before the paint has cured completely. Any adhesive residue comes away with light dampening.
The set holds self-adhesive masks; it is not a model and not a kit. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
