An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Kovozavody Prostejov. The set captures the single-seat club glider in the simplified Jeans version. The model is meant to be assembled and painted and includes clear canopy parts and a decal sheet.
The Astir CS is one of the best-known fiberglass gliders of the 1970s. The Jeans version was offered as a more economical club machine for training and recreational gliding. Its elegant long wings and smooth surface make the Astir a rewarding subject, one that can still be met at club airfields all over Europe.
The long slender wings of a glider need careful alignment and a firm bond to the fuselage, ideally with the dihedral checked. Use a thin cement for plastic and fill and sand the joints carefully, because the smooth surface of a glider hides nothing. The typical finish is glossy white gelcoat with colored registration markings; under a gloss coat a good primer and fine polishing pay off. Mask the clear canopy and glue it on last.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
