This resin detail set brings the landing gear bays for a model of the AV-8B Harrier II vertical takeoff attack aircraft in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory with which you replace the simplified landing gear areas from a plastic kit. The castings carry a faithful relief of stiffeners, piping and wiring of a kind that plastic usually cannot capture.
The AV-8B Harrier II uses an unconventional tandem arrangement of the main landing gear under the fuselage, complemented by retractable outrigger wheels at the wingtips. This solution is connected with vertical takeoff and landing using vectored thrust. Its landing gear bays are deep and full of technical detail, which comes into its own once improved with a resin set.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of mold release agent. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The bays usually carry a light base shade; depth comes from a fine wash in the corners, a dry brush on the edges and picking out the piping and the cables.
The detail set is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin part. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
