Photo-etched parts for the model of the Avia S-199 with the Erla canopy in 1:72 scale, cut for the Weekend range kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Avia S-199 is a postwar Czechoslovak fighter. It came about by combining the airframe of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G with a different powerplant and propeller, which left its mark on the flying qualities and on the fact that among pilots it earned the nickname Mezek, meaning mule. The version with the Erla canopy has fewer frames above the cockpit and better visibility, so on the model the cockpit really is on show.
The set holds photo-etched parts from thin metal sheet, in other words details that cannot be made from plastic: thin strips, grilles, buckles and small surfaces with crisp engraving. It is cut for the Weekend range kit in 1:72 scale and for the version with the Erla canopy. The extent of the set and the placement of the individual parts are given by the manufacturer in the instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade against a hard surface, not by twisting, or the thin sheet will buckle. Make the bends in a photo-etch bending tool or against a sharp edge, and rather in two steps so that the bend falls on the axis of the scored line. Degrease the surfaces before gluing, because metal holds paint badly without degreasing. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in tiny drops; for large surfaces PVA glue also works, as it leaves time to align them. Fit the internal parts before you close the fuselage.
This is an accessory set for the build. The model kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
