A decal sheet 1:72 with the markings of four Bomber Command Lancasters: two British machines of version B Mk I and two Canadian Mk X.
Responsibility details are not available.
The sheet covers the markings of four particular Lancasters from the last two years of the war. The pair of British-built machines of version B Mk I are joined by two Canadian Mk X, which were built at the Victory Aircraft company at Malton in Ontario and differed from British production mainly in American instruments and assembly procedures. The Canadian examples flew with squadrons whose personnel were predominantly members of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Names and nose paintings remained the only prominent color element on night bombers. The lower surfaces disappeared into matte black, while the sides of the fuselage carried large squadron letters, the serial number and a row of symbols for the raids flown. It is exactly this combination that turns a finished model into a particular aircraft with a fate of its own.
It is good to smooth the surface with gloss clear; only then does a decal adhere without silvering. Once taken out of lukewarm water, the film is left to release, slid into place and the excess water carefully blotted off. Decal softener helps bridge riveting and panel lines, and the finished markings are sealed at the end with a matte overcoat.
