The real subject

The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was an American four-engine heavy bomber with radial engines, a high-set slender wing, twin vertical tail surfaces and tricycle landing gear with a nose wheel. The J version is among the most numerously built forms of the type. The landing gear and the engine mounts are, at the same time, the places a viewer looks at first on a finished model, because they are low down and at eye level.

What the set offers

This set from the Eduard stable concentrates, according to its name, on two areas: the landing gear and the engines. It therefore replaces the parts that tend to be simplified in a kit and brings them with a finer shape and division. How many parts the package contains, which kit the set is designed for and in what order the parts are fitted is given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Building and painting tips

The parts are not made of polystyrene and ordinary cement for plastic models has no effect on them; join them with cyanoacrylate glue. Cut excess material away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the remainder down, so that the surface seats. Before painting, wash and degrease the whole thing and let it dry, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Try the gear legs dry together with the wheels while the position can still be changed, so that the model stands level and does not sit on its tail. The engines and their cowlings are easier to paint separately and are joined only once dry.
