1:72 B-29 Superfortress is a reduced photo-etched set of the Zoom range from Eduard for a model of the B-29 bomber in 1:72 scale. The parts are color-printed; it is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is part of Eduard's Zoom range, that is a narrower selection out of the full photo-etched set. It is aimed at the places that will still be visible once the model is finished, and the parts come color-printed. On a large bomber that is a practical decision: the full set covers even the corners nobody will look into once the fuselage is glued, while Zoom deals with exactly what can be appreciated from outside. The more extensive variant is a separate item.
The Boeing B-29 Superfortress was an exceptionally advanced machine for its day. It had a pressurized cabin, remotely controlled defensive turrets directed from sighting stations and four Wright R-3350 radial engines. The powerplant was precisely its weak point: it overheated and called for careful handling. The type was deployed in the closing stages of the Second World War in the Pacific and later again in Korea, where it already had to find its way around jet fighters.
On a four-engine bomber in this scale it pays to prepare all the photo-etch in advance and fit it in one go, before you start gluing the fuselage. Printed parts will not take sanding, so if the plastic surface beneath them is not flat, level it beforehand. On large areas of the model it is good to use a glue with a longer open time, so that you have time to fine-tune a part. Mask the transparent sections of the defensive stations before you start gluing metal, as dried glue can no longer be removed from a clear part.
