Replacement wheels for a model of the B-29 Superfortress bomber in 1:72, in the pattern of the early production series and with the flattening of the tires shaped in.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Boeing B-29 Superfortress was an American four-engined heavy bomber from the end of the Second World War. For its day it stood out with a pressurized cabin for the crew and remotely controlled defensive turrets. It was a large and heavy machine, which shows on the landing gear as well: the wheels carried a considerable load and the tires sagged visibly under the weight of a standing aircraft.
The set brings replacement wheels for a model of the B-29 in 1:72, in the pattern of the early production series. The tires have the flattening shaped in, that is the sag that forms under the weight of an aircraft standing on the ground. The finished model thereby loses any sense of hovering above the surface and reads as heavy as the real machine actually looked. The number of parts and the way they fit is described in the instructions supplied with the set.
Glue the wheels on so that the flattened face points downward to the ground and bears on the surface across its whole width; turned any other way, the finished model looks tilted. The parts are not polystyrene, so join them with cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the excess material off a little way from the part with a sharp blade and sand the remainder down carefully. Wash the wheels in lukewarm water with dish soap before painting and let them dry. The hubs are sprayed separately from the tires, and the easiest way to mask the border between them is with a disc cut to the diameter of the hub.
The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
